Spring 2024

Congratulations to Dr. Inam Jameel! Inam gave a wonderful exit seminar titled "Herbivory and water availability shape the fitness landscape in the montane forb, Boechera stricta", and then successfully defended his dissertation! Inam will join the lab of Dr. Regina Baucom as a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the University of Michigan.

Jill and Inam at Inam's exit seminar

Irina, our high school research intern, won first place for her YoungDawg end of semester presentation!

Sam received the Linton and June Bishop Fellowship awarded by the Genetics Department!

Sam published a Review in Annals of Botany- check it out here: The effect of global change on the expression and evolution of floral traits

Derek published a paper in New Phytologist- check it out here: Elevated [CO2] and temperature augment gas exchange and shift the fitness landscape in a montane forb

Liz was awarded a T32 Genetics Training Grant Fellowship!

Jill received the Russell award in recognition of her outstanding teaching practices! Press release

Fall 2023

We are excited to have Dr. Lillie Pennington start in the lab as a NSF Postdoctoral research fellow! Dr. Pennington completed her PhD in Jay Sexton's lab at UC Merced.

Derek wins the 2022 Wilbur Duncan Award by Plant Biology Graduate Studies Committee! Considered the highest recognition awarded to graduate students in Plant Biology, the Wilbur Duncan Award recognizes excellence in two of three areas: research, teaching, and service to the department. No surprises here! Congratulations Derek. You make us so proud to have you as a labbie and friend.

Inam was selected to receive the 2023 AIBS Emerging Public Policy Leadership Award (EPPLA), through the American Institute of Biological Sciences. The award recognizes graduate students in the biological sciences who have demonstrated leadership skills and an aptitude for working at the intersection of science and public policy. Read more about the award here

Fall 2022
